Established in 2011, CityU MUN aims to raise the awareness of the CityU students towards global issues, international relations, as well as broadening their horizons. CityU MUN provides a platform for students to exchange their ideas on global issues and current affairs in a simulation of a United Nations conference. To advance their skills in debating, persuading and public speaking. Sets of training sessions and a mini-sized model conference will be held throughout the academic year. Since academic year 2014/15, CityU MUN has received tremendous support and has been advised by Career and Leadership Centre and sponsored by VP(SA) Office under the GoGlobal Initiative.
What is Model United Nations (MUN)?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. The participants role-play as diplomats representing a nation or NGO in a simulated session of a committee of the United Nations, such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.
